Pairing a Roku Remote to a TV and Streaming Device

Roku Ultra - Voice Remote Pro with Headphone Port

1. Press the small "reset" button on the Roku streaming device/box that is attached to the back of the TV. This will reset the device.

Note: only press the button, Do Not Hold the button as this will do a whole factory reset and will require a setup. Here is a helpful link with some instructions on how to do this.

1. Press and hold the pairing button on the back of your remote

   

2. Release the pairing button when the status light begins to flash green, this may take a few seconds.

   1. Once the remote is found, a “pairing” notice will pop up on screen

   Note: if this doesn’t work for the 1st time, repeat the steps from the start.

   Note: if there is only 1 streaming device installed in the area, step 4 can be skipped.

3. Once paired, you need to check to see if the remote is synced to CEC so that it only controls 1 device. This setting is for areas with more than 1 streaming device in the same room. This setting allows the control of one device, rather than the default setting that would control multiple streaming devices in an area. If only one streaming device is installed in an area/room, this set can be skipped and the default setting can be used. To change this setting follow the steps outlined or the video tutorial below:

   1. Using the Roku remote, navigate to the “Settings” menu and press enter
   2. Navigate to the “Remotes and Devices” menu and press enter
   3. Navigate to the “Remotes” menu and press enter
   4. Navigate to the “Voice Remote pro” (or other default remote name) menu and press enter
   5. Navigate to the “Set up remotes for TV control” menu and press enter
   6. Select “CEC setup” (if not already selected) and follow on screen promotes to finish setup. If it is already selected, no change is needed.
   7. The remote is now setup to only control 1 TV and Streaming device
      1. This avoids the issue having remotes that control multiple TVs in the same room

1. Release the pairing button when the status light begins to flash green, this this may take a few seconds.
